"I know you're right. I have been a shitty child to them and I need to repay them for all they have raised me as. Jackson visits my parents with his wife every weekend, and you're right he has to make a longer trip than I do. From Florida to Maryland then back to Florida for a three days trip. I know my parents love Jackson more because he was always the perfect child and I was always the monkey that always got into some sort of trouble. I remember the day when Jackson was born, I was five years old and my mother and father walked into my bedroom addressed me about the new child then left. I had no say in whether I wanted a brother or not! My parents shunned me ever since I started getting in trouble at school and home, I know it. But you are absolutely right, WE need to visit them every weekend, bring some competition to my brother. Are you ready, Brian, for the competitive side of me?" I finally take a deep breath of air and roll the covers off my head to stare into Brian’s stricken eyes.
"Jane, I really don’t think you should be that competitive about seeing you family each weekend. I mean for God’s sake, it’s your frickin’ family! When do I see my parents? Every couple months because I do it for their love, care, safety, not because I wanted to beat my sister to everything! We will see your side of the family two weekends every month for love, safety, and care not competition. Good night, Jane!" I hear Brian yell, then with that he takes his covers and rolls over, shutting the light off, leaving my thoughts in the dark.
